How do we install a grab Bar in drywall?

If you install a grab bar in drywall with small plastic anchors and screws, chances are, the bar will eventually start separating from the wall and it will actually become very dangerous for the user.

The proper way to install a grab bar on drywall in Los Angeles is by using special "toggles". These toggles are designed to each hold a maximum weight of 225lbs! And we use at least one toggle on each end of the grab bar, and sometimes 2 or 3 toggles on each.

As you can see in the photos below, we drill a 1/2in hole in the drywall, we then insert the toggles inside the wall with the metal swivel aligned. Once the toggle is all the way inside, we flatten the swivel against the back of the drywall. We then zip up the sliding plastic hole guide in and we break-off the long plastic guide. We can then attach the grab bar to the wall with a screw going into the metal swivel on the back side of the drywall. You'd have to see it in person to understand it better.
